Carrollton City Council Meeting Minutes
WORK SESSION
The Council members opened with the usual briefing of activities and meetings attended. Examples were Committee Meetings, Golf Tournament, Judicial Committee, Mayoral Forum, Liberty Institute Luncheon, Addison Development meeting, investigative meeting with City Group.org to understand what they do, meeting with new CEO of Cottonwood Hospital, video conference with 7thgraders, Baylor Board Meeting and CCA sharing "What It Means To Be A Good Citizen.
Items on Consent Agenda;
It was decided to pull item 16 (re: contract with Nathan D. Maier Consulting Engineers) from the consent agenda. They would also pull item 19 from the consent agenda and have it addressed as a separate resolution. The Mayor asked that whoever makes the motion for item19 (re: appointing a representative to SB 1420 Committee and supporting the the reconstruction of IH-35E ) to name Mayor Mar chant as the representative.
Carrollton Election Results
On May 14, 2011, voters elected Matthew Marchant as Carrollton’s new Mayor with 65% of the vote over incumbent Ronald F. Branson.
Terry Simons was elected Council Member, Place 6 with 100% of the vote, as Simons ran unopposed.
Carrollton requires that City Council candidates receive at least 50% of the vote in order to be elected, so the election for City Council Places 2 and 4 will continue with a run-off election on Saturday, June 18, as no candidate received at least 50% of the vote on May 14.
Candidates Bonnie Kaplan and Anthony Wilder will face off for Place 2 and Candidates Bob Garza and Cathy Henesey will compete in the run-off for Place 4.
Marchant and Simons will be sworn in to their new positions as Mayor and Councilmember Place 6 at a special City Council Meeting on Monday, May 23 at 7 p.m.
